Overdue post.

This is it.
So, as you may have noticed over the last few years I have lost a lot of interest with this blog. Real life sort of gets in the way at times, and I started this thing so long ago it sort of felt like I had to keep this up as a duty and chore rather than a pleasure.
When I was 14/15 (when I started this) I 100% wanted to work in fashion. I am creative and I love clothes and art and designers but gradually I sort of found other things that I liked, and school and exams and other commitments came before my online ones. Slowly I went from posting every few days to barely once a month, and I stopped checking out other blogs and runway shows almost entirely.
My personal style is still evolving, but it's different now than what I used to want it to be. I used to want to be on the cutting edge, spending hundreds of pounds on shoes at a moments notice. I wanted to strut into a tall building in painful heels and designer sunglasses, but now I sort of don't want to buy into consumerism as much as I used to. Other things make me more happy, to be fair.
Fashion is an art, as is personal style, but it's almost become some what of a cult nowadays. I didn't have lots of money which I could splurge on designers to make my blog high fashion accessible, and I didn't want to be constantly doing 'hauls' in topshop or primark as I don't feel the need to just buy excessive amounts of clothing at any one go because they're cheap. I avoid buying from fast fashion high street stuff now because of what they put their workers through, which I manage for prim ark but am trying very hard with the others. I like ebay, charity shops, DIY's and clothes people get when travelling.
This blog has kind of been an evolution of my teenage high school years, and now they're over I just don't feel like this blog in particular being dedicated to only fashion and what that means is high fashion is relatable to my life anymore. I'm nearly 19, I'm at university, after a few years I'll be looking for jobs, and if I know they're 100% not going to be in fashion I don't think there's much point in keeping this.
Plus, everyone blogs nowadays. They're are much better and dedicated bloggers in this world than me.
Thank you, readers, who actually read this. I feel like a lot of you followers may have stumbled across my blog and clicked follow because you hoped for a follow back, which when I first created this blog none used to do. But hey, things changed.
I'm gonna keep this post up for a bit, then I'll delete this blog as it doesn't really have a place on the internet anymore. I may come back, I like some place to express myself and what pictures and art I love to share, but it won't be here.
Thank you! Everything has been great. Once upon a time, I loved blogging and I hope that memory is the one that remains.

Don’t stop, no, I’ll never give up And I’ll never look back, just hold your head up

Salwaar Top- Street stall in India, Leggings- Treasure Island indoor market, Sandals- New look (left behind in Kolkata)

Oh Dayum. I know I haven't posted in so long. It's been a bit crazy really. This summer.
So- I had exams. Then prom. Then a week of prep for india whilst all my friends left to go on their lil hol to lanzarote.
Then I went and had the best month of my life in India (see above photos and cool ethnic outfit) and I got my nose pierced there.
Got back, went on a cruise to Norway (oh, how I love Norwegian fashion)
Returned, recieved a level results. Entered first choice uni.
Went to momentum.
Went to Uni...in Scotland. And now Uni is sort of settling sort of.

I'm still deciding what I'm doing with this here..I love fashion but recently I've kinda decided I just wanna be a hippy/bohemian/gypsy who travels and listens to Haim and Fleetwood Mac and wears earrings with feathers and protests for human rights a lot. I've never really had my own defined style, I just pick something I wanna dress up as one day and dress up like that. I'm still doing that, but I wanna try and buy less fast fashion. Make and customise more. Wear vintage and buy only from ebay.
So, I'm gonna keep blogging, maybe less structured fashion posts, more free spirit and...I wanna say cheap/ethical fashion? Yeah. I am a student now

‘It’s india man, cows roam the street and noone ever has a solid bowel movement’ Rajesh Koothrapali, Big Bang theory

Today marks the end of my first week in India! Time is flying so quickly and I never want it to end, but I am so excited for what has to come!
So we’ve now seen all the projects and have decided what we will be working with for the next three weeks. I’ve enjoyed all the projects, but ones that sat on my heart include Lakermath, New Market and Connections. Lakermath is a informal school for children of this red light district of Kolkata, and I’ll be there every afternoon. New Market Slum is one of the poorest and rawest places I haveImagebeen to, but one that has given me so much joy. It is another informal school in a very basic room in new market slum and I’ll be going there Mon-Wed mornings. Connections is a place where the ladies take used saris and make cool western products-bags, scarves, bunting and they sell them to the US etc. I’m going there Thursday and Friday.ImageImageImageImageImage

I’m finding several things difficult, like the extraordinary heat, delhi belly, the amount of beggars on the road for example but nothing compares to the poverty and awful situations I have seen here. Old people who have severe nerve problems having to walk over 20 miles a day to earn money from selling incense to survive. Child drug addicts who have come to the city looking for work but are met with forced prostitution, abuse and drugs. We heard today that they start inhaling the fumes from car exhausts in order to stop feeling hungry. What is this world? Why are people living like this? ImageImageImageImageThe hardest project I think I have seen is Sealdah Railway station project. Sealdah is a mssive railway station, and lots of child drug addicts live there in destitue poverty. Many are in gangs and almost all abuse drugs, alcohol, cigarettes. We sat in a little cafe (well, literally some sheets of metal and a plastic roof) and the boys were given a meal, most didn’t speak english but we played together and they all seemed very happy to see us. But the girls were even harder. They were younger than me or around my age and I couldn’t help feeling guilty, sitting there having a life which they deserve just as much as me yet they don’t have it. What’s the worst thing that’s happened to me? a couple of bad grades, a rough heartbreak, fights with my mum. I sat opposite a girl who was six months pregnant, fourteen, her sixteen year old husband had left her last year and she was a glue addict. And she gave up alcohol for the baby. Can you even imagine? Another two girls my age had rickshaw pullers as husbands- a job that makes me feel sick when I see a skinny old guy pulling a rickshaw and several people who look like they can walk barefoot across the streets of Kolkata- and had one child already and one on its way. Can you even imagine? Image

Anyway, I look forward for what God has instore for me at the projects. I love womens and chilrens ministry and I have a heart for them, and I think the projects I have chosen will be raw and real yet fun and enjoyable at the same time. Please pray for:
  • No more ill feelings! Well, it is India but I don’t want to be feeling too awful during my projects. I’d hateeee to miss out.
  • That God can bless and continue to change me and the rest of the girls on our trip
  • That we can bring something to the people we meet, and build relationships and friendships with them.
  • Thank God for the fact nothings really gone wrong so far! Also the fact we are here, happy, well, and making great friends already. Thank god for the amazing work he is doing here with EMC and I pray he grants more of his blessings on this fantastic city.
Here are some pictures randomly taken from my video camera which is all I can plug into the system at this internet cafe. Any video will take to long to upload in the hour I have here- so that’s it for now! Mainly the pics are from around EMC church and Pauline Bevan childrens home, as well as one of the slums outside connections. I’ve tried to be braver with my DSLR but using it sparingly as the sockets here seem to blow up everytime you try and charge something.
Hope you are all doing as well as I am!

I'm going to INDIAAAA

I'm actually really really pissed off because I bought a new HD video camera the other day and recorded my first vlog(!!!). However my crappy little computer can't process these 'large' files and I've been waiting for the file to convert all day. Hopefully I can have more success later.
Anyway, in the video I basically say:
  • I am going to India for a month tomorrow to Kolkata, where I will be working with a charity out there to do lots of cool things and have loads of fun on my long working holiday mission trip!
  • I have started a personal blog which all my friends etc know about (as I keep this one on the DL till I take over the world....) but I will be copying those posts on here don't you worry!
  • When I get back I plan to start my own youtube channel! Well- I've started it but I will start doing some fashion vlogging. I don't really think I'm qualified to do beauty videos except from like what I use and that.
  • I have set myself a 1000 followers goal by the end of summer. I know this probably will NEVER happen but- aim high right? So pleasee if you like and read my blog share it around :)
So next time I post, I'll be in Kolkata! Keep reading and keep sharing guys, lots of love

MW Swap Shop styling challenge!

IMG_2422
After the Swap Shop party I had a lovely email from Fleur asking if I'd enter the MW styling contest! I decided to pick my fave item from the swap- this gorgeous furry whistles jumper and dressed it up and down using existing items I had! Here are the results:
IMG_2496 IMG_2492
Shoes- New Look, Jeans- H&M, Necklace- Independant Markety place (bought at a festival for £1.50!)
This is a uniform like way to wear this jumper. Pairing with jeans or leggings is a really easy way to wear any fabulous jumper a girl may own! I wanted to boho the look up so I added a wooden necklace and leather thonged sandals. Cute and casual!
IMG_2483 IMG_2482
Trousers- Rare London from Ebay, Shoes- Topshop from ebay, Necklace-Forever 21
The best way to get a bit more interesting with your style is to just literally mix two things you NEVER thought would go together. They might, with the right accessories, just work. This is more of a lunch with the girls look, featuring my fave new wedges and trousers that are so amazing and crazy it's insane.
IMG_2527 IMG_2525 IMG_2524 IMG_2522
Skirt- Monki, Shoes- Miss Selfridge, Necklace- Forever 21, Sunglasses- Vintage
I've outfit repeated this so many times (usually adding converse instead of heels though). Using the orange skirt I also got at the swap shop, I added a statement necklace and round sunglasses to give the jumper a modern 60s feel. Absolutely love this outfit, feelin so chic hahaha as you can tell from the goofy wannabe photos.

NOW- Please please please vote for me in the styling challenge! I'm really late in doing this haha so make sure you guys all work hard lol ;) please tweet @fashiondamnit and hashtag #swapshopstyling . There's also going to be a post put up on the mw blog but that's not up yet. I'll let you guys know!

Hit me with your best shot

IMG_2435 IMG_2438 IMG_2442 IMG_2443IMG_2444IMG_2446IMG_2447 IMG_2449

Remember I wanted to make my dress with black, gold, nude, mesh and chiffon in my post 'Black, nude, gold, sparkles on the highway that don't care'
Well prom was yesterday and me and mum made my dress! She made the dress and I added the crystals. Twas very fun.
Shoes- Topshop, Earrings and bracelets- Forever 21 and Fossil,
I had my nails done neon yellow shellac, as well as my toes! I hope it lasts when I go to India next week. My friend curled my hair, I wanted it relaxed and messy and I did dark smokey eyes with big lashes.
Prom went well, but I can't say it was the best night of my life haha. I did organise it all and everyone seemed to have a great time! Can't believe high school is really over. I really hope to get into uni!
Love
